In the background of the back garden you can see there is a building - that is Abbott Labs! Steve can walk to work in 5 minutes! The dogs and I walked Steve to work every morning last week. I had to learn how to drive on the left - which was a lot easier than I had expected! Haley knows her way around very well and was able to guide me through the roundabouts and into the village arriving safely at the Dunne Store and also to the Tesco lot where you can pay to park and then walk around downtown.
There are pubs, solicitors, chemists, and dental surgeons on every block! The chemist is the pharmacy. Solicitors would be my legal counterparts. Apparently I could take an exam to be qualified to work as an attorney here but only if my state has a reciprocal agreement for Irish attorneys to practice in my jurisdiction. They have reciprocity with the state bars of CA, NY, and PA. There are other steps I could pursue to get approval in coming from IL but it is a process that may take some time and it is not a given.
Anyway, the town is lovely and we have walked about quite a bit. We have gotten library cards and found several pubs we want to try, naturally... There is also a train station in town. The parking area has a sign that says "Did you pay and display?" Which is a pleasant reminder to pay your parking fee and leave the receipt visible!
This whole week we have had sunny days and no rain. The news here tells me there is a drought, but I am enjoying the sun and warmth and walking all about and staying dry! Still, I don't wish a drought on the farming community so am willing to put up with rains as necessary.
